Technological risks
This type of operational risk includes – risks in the area of communications, such as errors due to poor data transmission, for example in the case of fax machines, – risks in data capture and recording, and here above all scanning errors, – risks in building security, for example malfunctioning alarm systems, and – IT risks, including above all the risk of a breakdown (failure, collapse) of an entire system (gridlock). – In Germany, credit institutions are required by law to establish appropriate security measures against computer failure, computer misuse and computer crime; see Section 25a of the German Banking Act (KWG). – See flash crash, business continuity, information assurance, mistrade, risk, banking, operational, power risk, system collapse, videoconference.
