Tier 3 capital

Defined for regulatory purposes for an institution as – net trading book profit plus – short-term subordinated debt plus – capped tier-2 capital, namely supplementary capital that is in principle eligible for recognition but was not eligible for recognition because of the maximum limit for supplementary capital. – Cf. Bafin Annual Report 2009, p. 48 (according to plans of the Basel Committee, regulatory Tier 3 capital is to be abolished).
