Paper profit

A profit generated by successful involvement in the financial market, but not yet paid out, i.e. transferred to the account as a credit (yield on an investment, shown in the books but not realized in a disposable form). – A sum added as a credit but which is worthless; for example – because the amount of money has no purchasing power, as in times of hyperinflation, – the money may not be exchanged into domestic currency, as in the case of the prohibition of conversion in the course of foreign exchange control, or – the amount must be paid to the tax office [CH: Steueramt] because of the attainment of a higher tariff range. – Arithmetical profit achieved in stock exchange games (profit from paper trading which means virtual trading without real money with the purpose of training, education and testing). – See settlement confirmation, book profit, closing, paper millionaire, closing certificate, settlement, transfer, final, forced price.
