Technical term from supervisory law. In this case, an institution requests the supervisory authority to review its business operations as a whole or individual processes to determine whether all activities comply with the legal requirements. – If the supervisory authority acts on its own initiative (normal case), this is referred to as being on the initiative of the supervisory authority. – Cf. Annual Report 2006 of BaFin, p. 69 f. (supervisory-driven and application-driven special audits).
