Net asset value (book value, shareholders’ equity)

Unless otherwise defined, this refers to a company’s various assets after deduction of liabilities. The ratio thus formed is often used to determine the “correct” value of a share in a stock corporation (to compute the value of a share independent from stock exchange quotation). – See fair value, nominal value.
