Netting (also referred to in German as Saldierung)
In general, the offsetting of payment claims and payment liabilities in accordance with Section 387 of the German Civil Code, especially – within companies of a group (the setting off intra-group transactions in order to avoid booking the same operations twice) or – within a cash management system in which one bank serves several companies. – When balances are settled between banks, this is usually referred to as clearing. – See clearing, netting.
