Financial products (often also financials)
In a very broad sense, all securities traded on the financial market, including stocks and bonds. In the language of the financial world, financial products are always meant when the term “products” is used. – In the fall of 2013, there were about 600,000 (not a typo!) different financial products worldwide; about half were attributed to certificates of various kinds. – In a narrower sense, all tradable contracts that have an obligation to pay. – In special meaning, forward contracts traded on an exchange; then often also called in German “Financials” (capitalized). – See financial engineering, financial alchemy, financial instrument, financial center, flat tax, information sheets for financial instruments, product registration, quality control, futures exchange, lemon trade.
