Tax load ratio

The ratio of taxes levied to gross domestic product. In Germany, this ratio was just under 24 percent in 2009. – Above a certain level of tax burden, this causes skilled workers and companies to relocate abroad. It also increases the proportion of undeclared work (black labor) in almost all markets in the highly taxed economy. – According to calculations, a one percent increase in the sales tax would result in additional tax revenue of EUR 8.5 billion in Germany in 2010, which is slightly more than 0.3 percent of GDP. – See Tax Ratio, Third-Gate Money, Welfare State Trap, Constitutional Article One, Wagner’s Law, Second-Gate Money. – Cf. Monthly Report of the Deutsche Bundesbank of April 2008, pp. 31 et seq.
