Phthisis (phthisis)
In older documents, a term borrowed from medicine (there: emaciation: the wasting away or atrophy of the body or pulmonary tuberculosis: pulmonary tuberculosis, involving the lungs with progressive wasting of the body) meaning greatly diminished fortune, low tide in the treasury, lack of money (shortage of money).
