Super-government

In relation to Europe, the accusation that institutions (super agencies) such as the European Stabilization Mechanism, the Fiscal Compact – but also the ECB, which is acting beyond its actual mandate – are increasingly taking rights away from national representatives and transferring them to omniscient and non-accountable technocrats who believe they can control the economy and society. – Lawsuits before the Federal Constitutional Court in Germany against a transfer of power to supranational institutions not provided for in the European Treaties have been largely dismissed, for example against the European Stabilization Mechanism by judgment of September 12, 2012. – See presumption, central banking, bailout, buyer of last resort, ECB fall from grace, Europayer, hegemon, mild, salami tactics, transfer, disguised, transfer union, redistribution, central bank-inspired. – Cf. Monthly Report of the Deutsche Bundesbank of October 2012, p. 27 f. (a central bank must not assume a “quasi-fiscal role”).
