Ticker (also used in German, but with two meanings)

On the stock exchange, a system for transmitting prices; in the past by telex (ticker = teleprinter), today by electronic means. Stock tickers usually transmit real-time prices: without any time delay, the price of the financial product is automatically fed into the system as it occurs. – Mostly the lower area on the (TV) screen where news scrolls; the text of the ticker flows regularly from right to left. – See cable course.
