Passage money, passport money, passage toll and diagogion (transit duty)
Formerly a duty paid on ships and carts passing through a territory; passage toll, transit duty (a duty paid on goods that pass through a territory). The transiting vehicles loaded with goods are also called (dutiable; dutiable) passengers in old documents. – See transit duty.
