Nominal amount (notional amount)
The principal amount on which an interest calculation is based, especially in connection with swap transactions (the face amount that is used to calculate payments. This amount generally does not change hands and hence is referred to as notional, and thus the notional principal amount is the specified amount on which the exchanged interest payments are based).
