Quay dues, also quay money and quaiage (wharfage)
A tax of various kinds payable by ships that – moor at the quay (quai: mole, seawall, breakwater) or pier (dock), – discharge (unload, unship) or load goods there, or – today, especially on cruise liners, also land passengers or take them on board from the mainland. – See anchorage, discharge, harbor dues, ford dues, crane dues, load dues, demurrage, pilotage, pratica dues, weighing dues, shipowner dues, buoyage dues.
