## Definition

The indicator records newly created physical capacity for primary schooling. It counts classrooms or other self-contained teaching spaces that have been built and equipped for lessons, excluding existing rooms and refurbished facilities. Countries determine the scope of the measure, the collection procedures and the reporting targets, so figures may not be directly comparable across countries. The data are drawn from national reports compiled in the Global Partnership for Education dataset.
