## Definition

In older financial language, a re-draft drawn by the subrogated party on the subrogated party. It must be payable on demand and issued directly (a drittura) to the person liable to recourse. The bill of exchange must be honored against delivery of the change in origin (principal bill) together with a protest document. - From about 1920 onwards, reverse bills of exchange appeared only rarely. Instead, it became customary to send the protested bill of exchange to the party liable for recourse with the request to pay the countervalue immediately.
