## Definition

In relation to financial markets, fraudulent practices - in relation to the supply, demand or - price of financial products. It also includes - spreading rumors. The term also includes criminal information acts. This is understood to mean the publication of false or misleading information or the concealment of information that is required to be published by applicable law; the precise definition can be found in Section 20a of the German Securities Trading Act (WpHG). In Germany, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority can impose a fine of up to EUR 1.5 million in such cases; criminal prosecution is also possible. - However, despite strict supervision, a high threat of punishment and a separate ordinance specifying the ban on market manipulation (MarktmanipulationsKonkretisierungsverordnung, MaKonV), market manipulation of all kinds can never be completely ruled out; especially not on the Internet and in networks such as Facebook or Twitter. The reason for this lies in the almost infinite possibilities of secretly influencing market events. - See agiotage, share buyback, investor, intelligible, investment protection, bear raid, Beschores, blog, stock market rumors, bull raid, daimonion, deuteroscopy, dissemination, decision usefulness, trading, covert joint, field hockey stick bid, internet forums, credit hazard, crystallization, price fraud, price manipulation, market, narrower, market activity, feigned, market anomaly, pairoff, pankratium, pervasive constraint, prearranged trading, pump and dump, rebbes, reference rate, scalping, sham buying, sham transactions, Snake trading, smut, siderism, telephone order, unauthorized, takeover announcement, sales figures, false, circumstances, valuation, predictions, wash sales. - Cf.
