In earlier times, at first handwritten, later printed conversion tables for the multitude of foreign money - also of measure and weight -, in older literature also called Faullenzer (in this orthographical form; so written, i.e. with two ells) and Münztarif. - An employee entrusted with this task, especially at banks in coastal cities and at large marketplaces, had to calculate the frequently changing value relationships between the respective money (exchange rate; exchange rate) with the help of such tables with sometimes up to forty columns and on the basis of the new rate slips. - Today sometimes popular term for a computer (a device that accepts information in the form of digitised data and handles it for some result based on a program or sequence of instructions on how the data is to be processed). - See cash foot, coin commis.
