## Definition

Term used in U.S. regulatory law in connection with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB Act) of 2000, which defines the rank of a well-managed bank holding company (BHC) very precisely on the basis of various rating requirements. For example, the ratings for certain operational items in the consolidated balance sheet must be level 1 or 2 out of 5 specified levels, and the quality of management must also be assessed. In addition, evidence must be provided that banking services are provided locally to a satisfactory degree. - See also CAMELS, Community Reinvestment Act, Glass-Steagall Act, Well-Capitalized, Holding Company.
