## Definition

In March and May 1921 in London meeting of representatives of the victorious powers of World War I (19141918) over Germany, which adopted a hard payment plan and a comprehensive an obligation to deliver goods. Both plans were presented to Germany as ultimatums (ultimatum: a final, uncompromising statement setting forth conditions, and that expresses or implies the threat of serious penalties if the terms are not accepted; in case of non-acceptance, the occupation of German territory was announced). However, because economic life in Germany largely collapsed, the victors' demands could not be met. The Belgians and French then occupied the Ruhr in January 1923. - In 1952, a meeting was held in London with the aim of establishing a repayment plan for Germany's DM 14 billion foreign debt. This determined an annual payment by (West) Germany of DEM 600 million until 1958 and DEM 750 million from 1958. - See Dawes Bond, Reich Title, Rhine-Ruhr Levy, Ruhr Money, Prosperity Index.
