## Definition

Legal tender in the form of banknotes and coins. Up to now, cash has still been by far the most frequently used means of payment at the point of sale as the place where payment takes place, such as at the checkout counter in the supermarket, at the gas station, or at the ticket vending machine [CH: Billettautomat]. At the end of 2010, almost sixty percent of all sales by private households in Germany were still paid for in cash. However, the high cash share is slowly but steadily declining (so far about one percent per year; according to forecasts, however, this figure is likely to accelerate). - See acceptance restriction, banknote value restriction, cash visas, cash funds, cash, vaulted, cash cycle, cash management, cash ratio, cash in circulation, cash payment ratio, base money, validation, cryptocurrency, cash dispenser, money supply, money signs, money purpose, card, customer data- Information obligation, M1, M2, M3, funds, coin, paper money, pure, sum, Spores Raffel, asset, currency, payment, payment half, payment means, payment instead. - Cf.
