## Definition

Companies in the leasing business bundle the collateral provided to them by lessees - usually with a bank acting as intermediary - and transfer it to a special purpose entity. The special-purpose entity converts the receivables into collateralized debt obligations and sells them to investors either purely or in combination with other debt instruments, such as bank loans, bonds, and various public-sector debt instruments. - See Absence capitalism, Securitization.
