## Definition

A seller charges individual customers different prices for the same product. This is considered an abuse of market power and is prohibited under Section 19 (4) and Section 20 (1) of the Act against Restraints of Competition (GWB). - The prohibition of price discrimination is circumvented primarily by companies structuring payment terms differently for individual customers, in particular payment periods and discounts. The competitive-juridical literature also recognizes many other sidesteps, including those used by banks. - See supplier credit, regulatory density. - Cf. Deutsche Bundesbank Monthly Report of October 2012, p. 56 (possibilities of price discrimination in the course of supplier credit).
