## Definition

A term that emerged around 1980 to describe a decline in the rate of inflation. It is true that prices continue to rise. But the rate is reducing, but remains positive (the second derivation of the price increase in time). - Again and again, this term (and by whom even!) is confused with deflation. - See pressure, disinflationary, inflation, sacrifice ratio. - Cf. ECB Monthly Bulletin, March 2009, pp. 60 ff. (Disinflationary phase in the euro area; overviews).
