## Definition

A temporary or permanent reduction in the tax burden granted to a company or other taxpayer. This inevitably leads to other groups having to pay higher taxes because a given amount of expenditure (a fixed amount of expenditure) has to be raised. - See state aid, tax credit, tax ratio, constitutional article one, payday basic rule. - Cf. Monthly Report of the Deutsche Bundesbank of October 2008, p. 51 (Tax incentives in Germany 2003 to 2008; pp. 56 et seq: Sources of Law).
