A privately held company founded in 1992 and headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. Deutsche Börse AG also includes Deutsche Börse Clearing AG, Deutsche Börse Systems AG, Fördergesellschaft für Börsen und Finanzmärkte in Mittel- und Osteuropa mbH (FBF), European Exchange (Eurex) and Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse (FWB) - In January 2005, Deutsche Börse AG made a takeover offer to the shareholders of the London Stock Exchange under English law. This triggered fierce opposition and also led to an investigation by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) against several capital management companies whose managers had apparently colluded against the takeover. - Deutsche Börse AG had been planning a merger with the New York Stock Exchange since spring 2011.
