## Definition

In older documents, the consensual modification of a debt relationship from one creditor to another. The creditor who initiates a transfer is called the delegant (constituent, consigner). The debtor who is instructed by the delegatee is called delegate and the one who has stepped between the two is called delegatee. Delegation differs from assignment in that all three parties agree to the exchange, and the previous legal relationship between delegate and delegatee now becomes the same relationship between delegatee and delegatee. - See Factoring.
