## Definition

German share index, containing around thirty blue chips, but reflecting a total of around seventy percent of German stock market capitalization. The index was introduced on July 1, 1988, and very quickly became the German stock market barometer par excellence. To ensure that the stocks reflect the German economy as accurately as possible, the stocks included in the index are regularly reviewed for their eligibility and weighting in the index. Currently, the so-called 35/35 rule applies. According to this rule, a stock can only be included in the Dax if it ranks at least 35th in terms of both stock exchange turnover and free float. - See Tubos, Securities, qualified. - Cf.
