## Definition

The share of female employees in the labor force. This share also depends, among other things, on the overall economic situation; it is monitored by the ECB as part of the two-pillar principle. In the EMU, there was a remarkable increase in female labor force participation in the wake of the financial crisis from 2007 onward. - See labor force potential, labor market flexibility unemployment rate, Balassa-Samuelson effect, women's allowance, offshoring, minimum wage unemployment, job advertisement index, growth-employment link. - Cf. ECB Monthly Bulletin of August 2013, p. 77 (female labor share increased in EMU since 2007), ECB Monthly Bulletin of November 2013, p. 82 ff. (update; many comparative overviews).
