## Definition

In older documents, a dungeon - not necessarily in the structural form of a tower - in which recalcitrant debtors (defaulters unwilling to pay) were imprisoned. The conditions of detention in the debtor's dungeon were not at all squeamish, according to contemporary reports, and would prompt immediate intervention by the civil rights commissioner today. - See absconding, arrest money, deficient, first, sad, execution, money collection, money forgetful, child deposit, competence, body guarantor, corpse deposit, payment morality.
