## Definition

detailed guidance issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) together with the World Bank in 1999 for the early identification of risks and weaknesses in a country's financial sector. As of spring 2002, more than one-third of the IMF's 183 member countries had made use of this program (in cooperation with the IMF). Corresponding audit reports are published on an ongoing basis and attract widespread attention outside the professional community. - See Deutsche Bundesbank Annual Report 2003, p. 166 f., BaFin Annual Report 2003, p. 24 f., BaFin Annual Report 2008, p. 38 (emphasis on early warning indicators), BaFin Annual Report 2011, p. 82 f. (ongoing work; assessment of Germany), and the respective BaFin Annual Reports, chapter "International Affairs."
