## Definition

In an economy, overall spending is high and stock prices are also rising, although the companies were hardly making any profits and the banks - without knowing it - are sitting on bad loans. In this sense, the term became widespread with the financial crisis in Japan around 1999. - An economy in which demand is conspicuously directed toward certain goods, such as cigarettes and alcohol, and services, such as love-making [prostitution] or traveling around by addiction), which are classified as ungoods, i.e., goods that harm the individual and thus society now or later. - Cf. ECB Monthly Bulletin, February 2012, p. 87 ff. (economic stagnation phase in Japan).
