## Definition

Ten-member committee set up in the USA at the end of December 2009 - five members from the Senate (state chamber), five from the House of Representatives (representation of the people) - with the task of tracing the causes of the financial crisis that followed the subprime crisis. The committee was required to submit a final report by December 15, 2010. Congress provided the committee with a list of twenty-two items to be specifically investigated for any contribution to the onset of the crisis. In January 2011, the report was released in five chapters.
