Beveridge curve
Popular graph illustrating the equilibrium on the labor market in terms of job vacancies and unemployment. Central banks are usually cautious about the significance of the Beveridge curve. This is because – the economy is viewed in a point-like manner, as it were; even large regional differences are neglected – at least in the basic model; but compare the U.S.A. with Luxembourg, for example, and – the statistics on job vacancies were and still are inaccurate because not all job vacancies are reported to the labor authorities, and the database used for calculation is therefore uncertain. – See Okunsche’s Law, Job Advertisements Index, Growth-Employment Relationship. – Cf. Populaire grafiek die het evenwicht op de arbeidsmarkt illustreert in termen van vacatures en werkloosheid. Centrale banken zijn gewoonlijk terughoudend ten aanzien van de betekenis van de Beveridge-curve. Dit komt doordat – de nationale economie op een puntachtige manier wordt bekeken; zelfs grote regionale verschillen worden verwaarloosd – althans in het basismodel; maar vergelijk de VS bijvoorbeeld met Luxemburg, en – de statistieken over vacatures onnauwkeurig waren en zijn, omdat niet alle vacatures aan de arbeidsautoriteiten worden gemeld en de voor de berekening gebruikte gegevensbasis derhalve onzeker is. – Zie de wet van Okunsch, de vacature-index, de koppeling groei/werkgelegenheid. – Cf.
